Crescent City: House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas

After finishing the ACOTAR series, I definitely was looking for something to fill the void. I read a couple reviews of what to read next and it fell between the Tower of Glass series and this one. The deciding factor came down to which book series my local bookstore had that day and here we are! So far I’ve only read the first chapter and to be honest…I’m having a hard time picking it up. The pacing is a little strange for me. I’m having a hard time connecting with the world. But to be fair I am only on the second chapter and I knew going into the story it takes a while to fully connect so hopefully that’ll come soon!

An Unwanted Guest by Shari Lapena

I love a good Shari Lapena book. I picked up “Not a Happy Family” by chance at my local bookstore and have been hooked since. I’ll be starting this one today(10/26) but I am beyond excited to once again experience her thrilling writing style that keeps you on your toes!

  • Hello

Thank you for joining me as I rekindle my love for reading. This blog is a journal to review and catalog all the books I’ve been reading and serves as a love letter to the worlds these authors create.

  • A Court of Frost and Starlight

A Court of Frost and Starlight

The fifth installment of the “A Court of Thorns and Roses” series.

The first thing that I noticed when I picked up this book was just how small it was compared to the others in the series(the previous book was 700 pages!). I genuinely had no idea what to expect from it from the way the fourth book wrapped up, the war is over and there is a general “peace” to everything. I’m about halfway through it now and it truly feels like a feel-good holiday episode to finish rounding out our characters and give them as happy as an end then can have. Feyre is allowing herself to understand the feelings she had when Rhys died and came back, Mor and Rhys are talking through the conflict of him allowing her father in Velaris, Cassian and Azriel are dealing with the rumors in the illariyan camps, and Nesta and Elain are coming to terms with their new lives(with two different outcomes). Of course all of this is happening while they try to decide what winter solstice presents to get each other!

I’m only halfway through the book but this honestly is a great way to wrap up any loose ends. It allows for more open dialogue and a more realistic ending than just “they won so they get a happily ever after”, these characters still have wounds to heal before they get that ending. I’m very excited to see how Feyre’s story ends.
